The Second Coming Of Christ

The doctrine of the Second Coming of Christ is so prominent in the Scripture that all Bible
believing Christians embrace this truth as a fact, although there may be variations of opinion
as to the how, when, where, manner and nature of His coming.

In presenting the first and second coming of Christ, the Old Testament does not always make
clear distinctions between the two; however, there are sufficient teachings there to verify His
second coming.

The Scriptures that you have investigated are sufficient to show that Old Testament prophets
had at least an insight to the second coming of Christ.

IMPORTANCE OF THIS DOCTRINE

In the New Testament there are more than 300 references that shed light upon His second
coming. As a matter of fact, one out of every twenty-five scripture verses relates to this
truth.

Whole chapters, such as Matthew 24, 25; Mark 13; Luke 21; and I Corinthians 15, have this
doctrine as their theme. This truth is predominant in I Thessalonians, II Thessalonians, and
the Revelation. More New Testament space is given to the second coming of Christ than to
either of the other essentials of Christian life, such as faith, hope, love, or the blood of
Christ that cleanses us from all sin.
