| Christ is God | |
|
In this lesson we contend that Jesus Christ is in reality God. He is God because He had all the attributes of God. He is eternal, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, and immutable.
He is God because He forgave sins. He raised the dead. He arose from the dead. He will raise the dead in the resurrection. He will execute judgment on the wicked. He will judge the saints. He will judge the anti-Christ. He will judge the nations. He will judge Satan. He is God because He created the universe. He upholds the universe. He will forever sustain the universe. He is God because He was the bread that came down from heaven. He was the door through whom the saved entered. He was the way, the truth, the life. He was the true vine, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. He was Immanuel (God with us). He was called Son of God, God, Lord, Word, Logos and Son of Man. Therefore, we believe that the Son, who is the Word of the Father, the very and eternal God, of one substance with the Father, took man's nature in the womb of the blessed virgin; so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say, the Godhead and manhood, were joined together in one person, never to be divided, whereof is one Christ, very God and Perfect Man, who actually suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile the Father to us and to make atonement, not only for our actual guilt, but also for original sin. Now let us check the Scriptures to see if they teach that Jesus Christ is indeed God.
