FOURTH WEEK OF STUDIES Truths I Should Believe About Man - Page 2 |
|
When we discuss creation, we speak of immediate creation, meaning that God brought
something into being out of nothing, and of mediate creation, meaning that God brought
something into being by making use of something already existing. In the creation of Adam and Eve, we conclude that it was a mediate creation, since Adam was formed from the dust of the ground and Eve was made from one of Adam's ribs. To verify this, please write the following verses: 1. Gen. 2:7________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ 2. Gen. 2:21, 22____________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ THE SOUL OF ADAM WAS CREATED BY THE INBREATHING OF GOD Adam was physical and made from the dust of the ground, but he was more than physical; he was an immaterial soul. The soul was created and joined to the physical by the inbreathing of God. This is clearly proven by Genesis 2:7. Additional Scriptures that support this truth are as follows. Please write them: 1. Job 33:4_________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ 2. Eccl. 12:7 ________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ The fact that man was originally created out of the dust of the earth as a physical being and by the breath of God as a spiritual being gives him a dignity and position of responsibility where he is superior to the animal and plant kingdoms. In this state of superiority, man was and is capable of having companionship and. fellowship with God. This is why God gave him dominion over the beasts of the field, the fowls of the air, the creeping things of the earth, the fish of the sea, and every living thing that moves upon the earth. This elevated position of man lays the foundation for a sensible system of ethics and redemption. CONTINUE LESSON TABLE OF CONTENTS HOME |
